Sun, Sea and Silver - jewellery that captures your beach life

Now that the summer is here I find myself turning more towards the creation of jewellery which highlights the beautifully rich colours of sea glass. There's a romance to it... the idea that someone, maybe hundreds of years ago, dropped a bottle from the side of a boat and that bottle sank, smashed and its shards then rolled around in the sand, tumbled until it formed those gorgeous shapes we recognise with that special frosted finish.
Alternatively... and definitely less romantically, someone kicked a beer bottle (or a 7-Up... a lot of 7-Up bottles!) off the quay and it rolled around until it finally washed up and was picked up by a beach-comber like me!

Whatever the provenience of the glass, it is a stunning component to my jewellery and I take great joy in combining it with gold and silver. And why is that? I guess it's because it reminds me of long beach days spent building sandcastles, looking for shells, walking along the sand or just sitting and watching the waves. Three key elements:
the sea,
some sunshine,
sparkling waves.
And so, how to capture them in a piece of jewellery? How about; sea glass for the sea, a nugget of gold for the sun and, of course, silver for the sparkling waves? This has worked for me and has inspired a new range and new way to set my sea glass.
What do you think?
