Have you heard of a hag stone? They have other names but where I come from in Sussex the stones that you can find on the beach which have a hole all the way through are called hag stones. I've not found many in my life but the ones that I have found are dotted around my house to bring luck. In some cultures, they are used to ward away evil in its many guises. 
It is said that they are a ward against witches, but in my experience, I've only ever met good witches and they are always welcome! So, instead, let us just take this as a token of luck and also a love of all things beachy!
